When reporting a problem, it helps to include your device (e.g. iPhone 15, Pixel 8), your app version (Settings → About), and the steps that led to it.

Common questions

How do I create a task?

Tap the + button on the Today or Tasks tab, or press and hold it to speak your task instead of typing it — Outset will fill in the title, date, and details for you.

How do recurring tasks and habits work?

Give any task a repeating schedule and it becomes a habit: completing it rolls the due date forward instead of finishing it for good, and the Habits tab tracks your streak. Missing a day doesn't reset your progress from scratch — just pick it back up.

What is Focus mode?

Focus zooms in on a single task with a simple adjustable timer, so you can work through it (and its sub-tasks, if it has any) one step at a time without the rest of your list in view. It's free for everyone.

What's included in Outset Today Pro?

The free plan covers unlimited local tasks, up to 3 lists and 3 habits, everyday AI quick-capture, and local backup export/import. Pro adds sync across your devices, unlimited lists and habits, a daily AI briefing, and unlimited AI capture.

My tasks aren't showing up on my other device

Sync across devices is a Pro feature — on the free plan, tasks stay only on the device you created them on by design. If you're subscribed to Pro and still don't see a task sync, try pulling down to refresh on each device, and make sure both are signed in to the same account.

How do I back up or export my data?

Go to Settings → Sync & Backup → Export JSON backup. This works on every plan, offline, and saves a file you can keep or import later.

I'm not getting reminder notifications

Check that notifications for Outset Today are allowed in your device's system settings, and that the task has a due date or time set — Outset only reminds you about tasks that are actually scheduled.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, go to Account → Delete account and all data. This permanently removes your synced tasks, lists, and subscription record from our server. See our Privacy Policy for details.
