Privacy Policy

Outset Today ("the app," "we," "us") is developed by William Nelepovitz. This policy explains what information Outset Today collects, how it's used, who it's shared with, and the choices you have — including how to delete your account and data.

Information we collect

We do not use advertising or analytics SDKs, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
How we use this information
- To operate the app's core features — creating, scheduling, and syncing your tasks and habits.
- To verify your identity and keep your account secure.
- To process and verify your Outset Today Pro subscription.
- To generate the AI features you specifically request (quick-capture parsing, voice transcription, daily briefing, habit check-in).
- To operate and secure our backend infrastructure (e.g. standard server request logs kept by our hosting provider for security and reliability).
We do not sell your information, and we do not use your task or note content to train our own or any third party's AI models.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the service providers that power the app's features, and only as needed for them to provide that service:
- Clerk — authentication and account management.
- RevenueCat, along with Apple and Google — subscription and purchase processing.
- OpenAI — powers the optional AI features described above. Consistent with OpenAI's API data usage policy, data sent through their API is not used to train their models.
- Fly.io — hosts our backend server and database.
These providers may process data outside your own country, including in the United States.
Your choices
- Export your data — Account → Your data → Export JSON backup saves everything as a JSON file you keep.
- Delete your account — on the Account tab, Delete account and all data permanently erases your synced tasks, lists, and subscription record from our server, and deletes your account with our authentication provider. This can't be undone.
- Free-plan data stays on your device only; uninstalling the app removes it from that device.
- You can turn off notifications at any time in your device's system settings.
Data retention
We keep your synced data for as long as your account exists, so the app keeps working across your devices. If you delete your account, that data is deleted immediately. Standard server logs are retained briefly for security and operational purposes and then cleared on a routine schedule.
Children's privacy
Outset Today is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
